It starts out with a mystery woman roaming the streets. Trying to find some place safe. She has a gun shot wound in her shoulder.The h winds up in a shelter, with a none to happy housekeeper. The Father, who runs the shelter, finds out about the wound and gets medical help.
The H is an FBI agent and is looking into the case of the sheriff with 3 ex wealthy wives who mysteriously die. They die, he gets rich.
It so happens that the sheriff was married to the h's mother who is also dead. Since the real heir, the h, is alive the sheriff is trying to find and kill her. Only problem. The sheriff is well liked with high connections, on both of sides of the law. Which makes it hard to get close to him.
The FBI agent who is assigned to the sheriff's case helps the h. The chase and the game of hide and seek start. The ending is a thriller, but ends up with the good guys winning.

I enjoyed this book, the story was refreshing and different. Humanity at its best in Dr. Evie. It helps to know that there are great people still walking among us.
The characters were great and the story was action packed. Lots of bad guys and two people falling in love in the middle of it. Worth reading
I thoroughly enjoyed Escape to Sanctuary by Nese Ellyson. The suspense of this book kept me on the edge of my seat. Enjoyed the main characters. It flowed really well and i read it in one day. I could not put it down. It was a clean, but suspense driven book. I will definitely recommend this book to others.
I liked the story overall, just needs the fine tuning of an editor as there are some redundancies and such. The ending felt really rushed and the timing of things was frustratingly vague in the final chapters.
As I said though, overall it is a good story and I enjoyed it.
Escape to Sanctuary is an enjoyable light read with an interesting story line and well developed characters. Whilst the book is listed as a Christian Romance, apart from a minister being one of the key characters, and Evie, the main character, praying occasionally, the religious element doesn't dominate the story, so it would be suitable for anyone who just wants a captivating, enjoyable read.
This is Nese's first book and unfortunately it shows. While the plot was interesting, the characters were terribly flat and poorly developed. They appeared as caricatures and never changed in any significant way except for suddenly deciding they were in love. The inability to engage with the characters made it even harder to overlook the plot flaws and the dialog that was at times odd. It wasn't a terrible book, just flat and not very interesting, which is sad because this could have been a great story. In fact, I think if she rewrites it five years from now with more experience it probably will be a good book.
It's hard to say why this book just didn't work for me. I think it may have been how short it was. Often, due to brevity, relationships are excellerated. When this happens I have to roll my eyes. Two days and the main characters are in love? Ugh.
Evie, the main character/female doctor, is being hunted. The bad guy, who happens to be the sheriff and former husband to her step-mother, wants her dead to inherit her deceased step-mother's house and holdings.
Catching the bad guy just dragged on, interrupted not once, nor twice, but about 6 times, with medical emergencies wherever she went. She had to stop and assist, putting herself in more and more danger.
The story wasn't half bad, but reworking and rewriting it for another edition could make it good.
